August night in Gamla Stan
August brings the dark back. The days are still mild, but sunset and blue hour arrive earlier now, and with them, the kind of night I like to shoot in. I returned to Gamla Stan once again. This time without a tripod. Every frame here was taken handheld.
The GFX100S made that possible. Its in-body stabilization handled the longer shutter speeds without hesitation, even in the narrow, dim alleys where light is scarce and every second counts. I kept the GF45mm f/2.8 on the camera the whole session. This is a lens that suits Gamla Stan, close enough to feel the space, wide enough to hold it together.
There's something freeing about leaving the tripod behind. Fewer decisions, more movement, more chances to catch a scene before it changes. This is what evening photography in the old town looks like when you travel light.
