Bird photography
Even though I photograph a lot in the city, and that type of photography tends to dominate the images I share on social media, I probably see myself first and foremost as a nature person. I have always enjoyed spending time outdoors, and whenever I go out into nature it feels natural to bring a camera along.
For a long time I have also been interested in photographing birds and wildlife. Watching birds, observing their behavior, and trying to capture them in a photograph has always appealed to me. However, until recently I didn’t really have the right equipment to seriously explore this type of photography.
Last year I decided to take a step further and invested in a telephoto lens, the Fujifilm XF 500mm f/5.6, which I use together with my Fujifilm X-T5. It opened up a completely new world of photographic possibilities. Suddenly I could reach subjects that previously felt far beyond the capabilities of my camera gear.
I still consider myself a beginner when it comes to bird photography. It is a challenging genre that requires patience, observation, and a lot of practice. But that is also part of what makes it so rewarding. There is always something new to learn about both photography and the birds themselves.
So far, most of my photographs have been of birds that are common in my local surroundings. They are often easier to observe and return to, which makes them perfect subjects when learning. At the same time, the idea of photographing more elusive species is definitely tempting and something
Bird photography is still a new path for me as a photographer, but it is one that I find both challenging and inspiring. It requires patience, attention, and often a bit of luck, qualities that make every successful image feel especially rewarding.
I look forward to spending more time exploring this type of photography, learning more about both the birds and the craft of capturing them. Hopefully, these images are just the beginning of a longer journey into bird and wildlife photography.
